My City Now
kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month (September/October)
with the PBS broadcast of Los
Angeles Now (check your PBS station
local listing) and The
Future Filmmaker Contest.
High school students will learn to create
their own videos about the city they live
in through a series of traveling workshops.
Senior citizens will join in these workshops
to share their personal stories about the
city while working with students to inspire
and encourage the student videos.
All students participating in the workshop
will be given the opportunity to take part
in The Future Filmmaker
Contest. Students will compete by
making their own 3-minute video about their
city. The Grand Prize Winner will receive
a new turn-key editing system. Runner-Up
prizes will include camcorders and other
video supplies. Winners will be selected
by an online vote. Be part of The
Future Filmmaker Contest today.
